Here we go again ...

We are so looking forward to welcoming lovely guests back to Badgers Sett Holiday Cottages, we need the vibe of happy peeps relaxing and enjoying themselves in our lovely cottages and gardens!

As usual we have been hard at it during this third lockdown adding additional upgrades to our three gorgeous cottages, including painting the bedrooms in soft and relaxing cream shades as well as updating all the kitchens, giving a fresh and light vibe for the interiors - we think you will approve!

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

A visit to Heligan is a must at any time of the Year (in our opinion)! There is always something happening to captivate & inspire kids both little and large!

Be sure to drop in to Heligan's Home Farm and say hi to the friendly inhabitants! You will get to meet rare breed sheep, pigs, goats and chickens to name but a few.

Daredevils amoung you absolutely cannot miss the thrill of crossing the 100 ft Burmese Rope Bridge in the Jungle area, which towers above ancient tree ferns and sways deliciously as you make your trepidatious way across to the other side, have a mobile primed to capture that awsome selfie! (height restrictions apply to cross the bridge).

Why not pop into Heligan's kitchen and bakery whilst you are there, a chance to relax and indulge. The menu is full of so many delicious options from winter warming homemade soups and stews to yummy cream teas and scrummy cakes, there is bound to be something to satisfy the most discerning tastes!

Porthscatho Beach & The Hidden Hut

Grab your walking boots along with flip flops, kids and family dog and head towards Conwall's stunning Roseland Peninsula for the day, where you will find a huge choice of beautiful remote, sandy beaches and tiny bustling villages to explore.

One of our favourite beaches on the peninsula is Porthscatho. Leave the vehicle behind in village car park and head on down to this dog friendly beach which is teaming with miniature rockpools - fantastic fun for tinies to jump in and out whilst hunting for crabs or other magical finds!

To quell those hunger pangs after all the beach activity, drop by the wonderful Hidden Hut located just behind the sand dunes, it's now a well known secret and a dining experience simply not to be missed!

There is simply nothing better than eating outside this rustic cafe with the sun on your face, indulging in fresh locally produced food whilst taking in the awsome views - What's not to like !

Siblyback Lake

Just a few miles away from Badgers and nestled in gorgeous countryside is the beautiful Siblyback Lake. If you are feeling energetic it's a lovely three to four mile ramble or cycle through the local lanes starting from our front gate.

The kids will love messing around on the newly created wooden play area whilst big kids can relax on the grass banks or benches and admire the amazing views over the lake towards the Sibly Dam. A scenic three mile circular path surrounds the lake, perfect for walking or jogging.

Fly fishing is a popular pastime here, why not give it a go, get competitive and see who can catch the most fish! Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are available for hire for a fun afternoon's activity to try.

If hunger pangs develop after all this action, why not stop off at the popular onsite cafe Olive & Co where you will find something to suit all tastes from delicious brunches, juices, ice creams and artisan coffees to homemade cakes and cream teas - you will be spoilt for choice!

South West Coast Path - Cawsand to Cremyll

Why not pull on your walking boots, herd the kids and four legged friend into the car and head south on the A38 towards the beautiful village and Cawsand and join a picturesque section of the South West Coast Path.

One of our favourites begins at a handy public car park in Cawsand, leaving car behind - remembering to take the dog and kids! head towards the South West Coast Path. This section starts at Cawsand and ends on Rame Head in the village of Cremyll.

The beach at Cawsand is sheltered and has oodles of glistening sparkly rockpools, great for the tinies to paddle and hunt for that enticing treasure! Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year apart from July and August.

The map I have linked to for this lovely route starts at Plymouth, Devon (crossing the Taymar via a Ferry to the village of Cremyll), we begin our journey from Cawsand in Cornwall - no matter as you start from either end!

Cotehele House & Gardens

We are lucky at Badgers to have easy access to some of the historical castles, houses and gardens in plentiful supply within Cornwall. One of the very best for families (we think)! is beautiful Cotehele, located in the south east of our lovely county.

At the discovery centre within the quay you can hear fascinating stories of times gone by in the Tamar Valley, children will be mesmerised by these tales and can also join in with some of the many other activities taking place at the centre during their visit (may vary throughout the year). Be sure to drop by the adventure play area to for some boisterous fun and games!

Everyone will enjoy strolling through the gardens, which are especially capivating in Springtime, savor the riot of colours and delicious scents. You can also amble alongside the river Tamar whilst by the quay, or take a cheeky rest on the banks.

The Gallery within the main house is not to be missed, selling unique and exquisite items - careful here though! as you will surely be tempted to purchase that much needed gift for either yourself or a friend (remember to take your wallet ... or not as the case may be)!
