The Port Eliot Festival - 25th to 28th July 2019
One of the top highlights within the Cornish Calendar and if you happen to be in our lovely county during these dates, Go, go, go ...... Take a tent, hire a yurt or live in a caravan for the duration and be immersed in an eclectic array of fabulous never to be forgotten experiences.
Vibrant stars such as Lily Allen and Charlotte Church are part of the line-up for this year, alongside a fantastic array of writers, performers, musicians, poets and authors. The festival is taking place within the magical, historic estate of St Germans, surrounded by ancient woods, estuaries and beautiful parkland, located on the Rame Peninsula.
Chef demonstrations will be taking place in the estate's 'Big Kitchen' (incidentally used as a backdrop for filming the 'Delicious' series, starring Dawn French) by Russell Norman (award winning restaurateur, writer and broadcaster), Pen Vogler (author of Dinner with Dickens), Gill Meller (Group Head Chef at River Cottage HQ).
If you are a foodie (and even if you're not), a veritable feast awaits you in the form of well known pop up restaurants and street food, serving up delicious on trend dishes from wood fired pizza and oysters to Asian and sushi inspired dishes.
The little ones are not forgotten as Piskies Pantry and Lemon Jelli are bound to be sure fire hits with the 'tiny brigade'! These fabulous eateries will be located in various locations throughout the lovely grounds of the St Germans Estate for the duration.

Fowey Regatta Week - 18th to 24th August 2019
Visiting the delightful harbour town of Fowey is in our opinion, an absolute pleasure at any time of the year, and it's easily accessible from Badgers Sett Holiday Cottages! With a plethora of independent shops and eateries, selling everything from beautiful furniture, fabulous artwork, sumptuous clothing and delicious local food, be prepared for the wallet to take a pounding!
The renowned Regatta has a full line up of competitions for all class of sail boats plus gig and raft racing, taking place in the river and on the ocean, a spectacular sight for all to see!
A regular is the fabulous carnival procession, with its many floats and people dressed in crazy costumes alongside a local marching band. Local traders join in the fun too, decorating their shop fronts to complement the general scheme for that particular year.
The kids will adore the crab catching and swimming competitions, plus participating magicians will be weaving their exciting magic, leaving them spellbound!
The famous 8' long pasty will be transported ceremoniously by ferry from Polruan to Fowey Quay, escorted by the Fowey Town Band. On arrival, the mouth-watering pasty is sliced up and handed out to all the kids (big and small) .... attending on the day!
With so much to do and see, plus the chance to relax around the harbour whilst listening to amazing live music performances and watch in awe the stunning firework displays taking place on Monday and Saturday evening, this Regatta is definitely an event not to be missed!
